1. Job Overview

Amcor is seeking talented individuals with strong technical skills in flexographic and rotogravure printing for flexible packaging.

The Printing Excellence Manager’s primary responsibilities include managing the pre-press and printing operations for the successful onboarding of select new business, implementation and training of continuous improvement programs for pre-

press and printing processes, scoping and installation of new presses as the business requires, and oversite of preventative maintenance and parts inventory programs.

The scope of the Printing Excellence Manager position is all the Amcor Flexibles South American sites.

2. Job Dimensions

  • Requires strong cross functional leadership skills at all levels of the organization
  • Plants in scope will include Santiago, Chile, Lima, Peru, San Luis, Argentina, Cambe, Brazil, and Cali, Colombia
  • KPIs to include successful new business onboarding, press OEE, program implementation, total cost reduction
  • Some customer engagement is expected
  • Time will normally be spent in production or pre-press areas in our plants with hands on approach, mixed with some planning time in the office
  • 3. Principal Accountabilities

  • Ownership of all printing related aspects to successful onboarding of significant new business, while working cross functionally with operations, sales, marketing and R&D
  • Engage as needed with customers on specifications and graphics
  • Lead printing aspects of new product development projects
  • Develop, lead, and execute printing project improvement teams to drive printing excellence and cost savings programs
  • Establish printing co-worker succession and training program
  • Scope and pitch projects to ensure Amcor printing assets and processes are operating at world class levels
  • Lead major capital projects within the printing areas
  • Stay up-to-date with emerging printing related technologies that may give Amcor a competitive advantage
  • 4. Major challenges & complexities

  • Travel : 50% or more travel anticipated
  • Work across multiple time zones, with stakeholders with competing demands and priorities
  • Will need broad communication skills to effectively transmit information from shop floor to executive leadership

  • Multitasking projects across numerous sites will require strong organizational skills

  • 6. Qualifications / Requirements

    6.1 Formal Qualifications and Experience

    Knowledge and Experience

  • Must demonstrate a thorough knowledge of flexographic and rotogravure process printing and pre-press management
  • Project management expertise and leadership skills facilitating cross functional teams
  • 10+ years of experience in printing and / or graphics management
  • 5 + years of flexographic and rotogravure printing experience
  • 5 + years of flexible packaging experience preferred
  • Education and Certifications

  • Bachelors of Science or Associate or Certificate in printing management, graphics technology or equivalent
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification a plus
  • 6.2 Knowledge / Skills / Abilities / Behaviours

    Job Specific skills and abilities

  • Experience with flexible packaging converting
  • Rotogravure and / or Flexographic printing expertise
  • Strong project management experience
  • Strong team leadership experience
  • Strong technical knowledge of films, papers, and inks used in flexible packaging
  • Strong pre-press workflow management expertise
  • 7. Occupational Health, Safety & Environment (OHS&E) Responsibilities & Authority

    Regional / Site Managers

  • A personal (and ongoing) awareness of the hazards and risks which arise from Amcor’s undertaking in relation to individual area of responsibility.
  • OHS&E and Sustainability development policies communicated and deployed in area.
  • Ensure all co-workers, contractors and visitors have undertaken departmental OHS&E inductions.
  • Safe Operating Procedures (SOP’s) to be developed and implemented in accordance with departmental risk profile.
  • Ensure safe systems of work (SOP’s, JSEA’s, risk assessment, workplace inspections etc) are implemented and monitored as per the OHS&E management system.
  • Ensure safety is an agenda item in all team meetings.
  • Ensure required OHS&E training is undertaken.
  • Ensure all hazards / incidents are reported, documented and investigated and corrective actions are addressed.
  • Resources are allocated to WHSE functions in the area of responsibility.
  • Support OHS&E Team to manage OHS&E related functions within their responsibility.
  • Consult with co-workers, contractors and visitors in relation to health and safety matters for their workplace
  • The Authority to make decisions and act on any matter of WHSE management within their area and level of responsibility.
