About the role

  • Purpose of the roleProvides support, advice and guidance to the Head of Projects Minera Escondida project portfolio, including : Developing and implementing contracting and procurement strategies;
  • Developing effective contract management tools, process and procedures, considering benchmark lessons learnt and best PC&P practices, focused on preventive actions to avoid claims;
  • Monitor and analyse functional performance and lead initiatives to improve Project Contract Management processes and practices.

    Coach and support PC&P specialists on the contract formation and administration processes.Establish and manage relationships with key stakeholders at site.

    Roles and accountabilitiesEnsure the effective management of project contracts, in accordance with agreed commercial terms, by nominated Contract Owners.

    Assists Contract Owners and PC&P Specialists to effectively manage all aspects of their nominated contracts, through the provision of project contract management processes and governance frameworks.

    Identification of project’s commercial value drivers & risksIdentification of appropriate contracting & procurement strategies for all key work packagesSupport the development of a clearly documented contracts & procurement strategy and plan for each phase of the development life cycleAssist Contract Owners and PC&P Specialists in monitoring of progress and cost according to contractual terms.

    Lead and drive interface point with key stakeholders in the execution of contracting & procurement formation, administration and closure process.

    Monitor and drive embedment of the functional controls framework to ensure compliance with relevant OurRequirements (ex GLDs), BLDs, policies, standards, procedures and legislative processes and practices requirements.

    Validate that critical controls are in place for the identified risks within the Contracts and Procurement management function.

    Ensure statutory and legislative compliance of Contracts and Procurement processes.Lead, coach and mentor project team members to deliver against performance targets.

    Develops and implements advanced commercial techniques to leverage value creation opportunities;Leads and influences the selection and implementation of commercial models in support of various project delivery models.

    Managing Total Cost of Ownership awareness in project contracts and procurement activities ;Establishing and leading relationships with key stakeholders at site to become a highly valued contract expert, trusted with commercial support, to lead negotiations with vendors and provide on-

    going contract management;Be an active collaborator in building the desired team’s culture.

    Requirements

  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant Engineering discipline(s), Construction Management, Economics, Law, Quantity Surveying or related discipline.
  • Ideally further commercial / technical study such as an MBA or Diploma
  • Typically 5+ years’ experience in C&P / Supply in Capital Projects.
  • High degree of business acumen, with deep understanding of capital investment lifecycle and drivers.

  • Lead Project Contracts and Procurement processes, systems and tools for use on a Project or Programme of works
  • Experience within Project settings across Minerals or Energy industry
