At Page Group we are looking for a Sourcing Technical Engineer for a multinational company in the mining industry.
Provide technical capability within the Product Sourcing team to deliver and continuously improve sourcing channels that are compliant, flexible (low risk), consistent (Delivery In Full On Time), sustainable and low-cost.
The Sourcing Technical Engineer uses manufacturing best practices knowledge, ability to read and understand engineering requirements along with metallurgical skills to audit and manage supplier processes to ensure products are delivered to specification.
Key deliverables include :
Analysing and reporting on technical compliance of suppliers and their products
Participate in non-conformance and failure investigations and develop plans to prevent a reoccurrence
Providing technical guidance to the business regarding product sourcing options
ROLE DIMENSIONS :
Financial spending limits as per divisional procedures
Contribute to maintaining the department budget including forecasting any compliance related costs (i.e. travel, testing. inspection etc)
Authorised to stop operations if injury or damage is imminent. Implement emergency response to any critical situation or potential employee injury
In the absence of the Sourcing Technical Engineer, the Sourcing Technical Lead will assume responsibility and delegate where appropriate
We are looking for a person :
Bachelor of Engineering (Materials or similar)
Other relevant technical qualifications (i.e. Non-Destructive Testing)
ISO 9001 auditor training
0-5 years' experience in a steel and / or iron foundry environment working with cast products
Product sourcing experience, with a focus on international suppliers (desired)
Problem solving and root cause analysis to understand and rectify the nature of casting defects
Creation of technical documentation including : procurement specifications, reports (failure, NCR, concession), product / supplier audits etc.
Working with a team of sourcing engineers and / or technical staff
Training / providing guidance to colleagues in technical matters, especially metallurgy
Skills and Knowledge :
Knowledge of steel and / or iron foundry or similar heavy industrial manufacturing processes (i.e. forging)
