NSW TRADE AND INVESTMENT DIRECTOR - INTERNATIONAL EDUCATION
The role :
The Australian Trade and Investment Commission (Austrade) is looking for a Trade and Investment Director based in Santiago, Chile to promote education opportunities for students in Latin America on behalf of the State of New South Wales (NSW).
Working for Investment NSW as part of Austrade’s Commercial Office based in Santiago, the NSW Trade and Investment Director - International Education - will identify and capture opportunities to grow NSW’s international education sector and support the state’s broader trade and investment objectives across the Americas, with a focus on student recruitment activities across Central and Latin America.
In this student recruitment role, you will develop and maintain extensive networks with stakeholders across a wide range of sectors in NSW and the Americas, especially from education and scholarship providers, education agents, alumni, government and industry.
You will promote and advance the interests, in market of NSW’s international education and training and research sectors, as part of the state’s broader trade and investment strategies;
support local market events and engagement; and foster commercial outcomes and bilateral engagement of government and industry leaders.
Duties include :
Working collaboratively with the Austrade Santiago Team and the Americas Education Team, the position is responsible for the following duties :
Lead NSW Government engagement with in-market stakeholders and constantly develop new contacts and networks across education and other sectors in the Americas to facilitate NSW education and training and other exports and investment for NSW.
Deliver in market communication and engagement strategy, including developing content and managing digital and social media campaigns on Study NSW channels.
Plan, coordinate and implement international education activities such as face-to-face and digital exhibitions, international education hub set-ups, agent, and prospective student briefings and in- and out-bound market visits.
Support marketing efforts of Study NSW and other NSW based Trade and Investment teams by delivering services to NSW education providers and companies, such as attending pre-departure briefings, providing on-the-ground support to visiting delegations, ensuring local exhibition arrangements are in place, arranging and participation in meetings and networking functions and undertaking follow-up.
Advise on strategy development to attract international students, develop commercial partnerships, and promote education and training-related investment and export.
Provide data and market informed strategic advice to NSW education and training and other industry representatives seeking to develop business relationships and strategic alliances with local businesses and government agencies to facilitate export, trade, and investment.
Manage and facilitate, with the support of NSW-based government representatives, visits to market by NSW Ministers, VIPs and industry sector experts, and visits to Australia by delegations of key in-market representatives.
Manage changing workloads with flexibility and efficiency while balancing responsibility for education, research and other industry portfolios and large numbers of clients.
Apply NSW Government business practices and maintain accuracy of information in business systems to deliver accurate and timely reporting and relationship management whilst upholding the Code of Conduct.

To be eligible for consideration and appointment you must have :
Work Authorisation- to be eligible for employment with Austrade in theChile, candidates must be legally authorised to live and work in the Chile at the time of appointment.
Language- the successful candidate must be a highly motivated team member, fluent in written and spoken English and Spanish. Spanish.
Hold relevant higher education degree
Security Clearance- the successful applicant must be willing to complete an Entry Level Screening Pack and be confirmed as a suitable person to access Government resources prior to commencement in the role.
