Purpose

Lead the Minerals Americas Directional Studies team in development and delivery of Identification Phase Studies with a clear business-oriented approach and ensuring selection of the appropriate Preferred Investment Alternative.

Engages with the Asset Leadership Teams, Minerals Americas Leadership Team, Centres of Excellence, and other external stakeholders.

About the Role

In this role you will :

  • Accountable for the development Identification Phase Study (IPS) on behalf Minerals Americas Assets and regional functions, for initiatives above US$20M capital cost that are raised during the Opportunity assessments (OA) and Life of Asset (LoA) processes.
  • Ensure that transparent and timely information is provided to Assets President and key Regional stakeholders of risk and opportunities identified during the development of the studies.
  • Build strong relationships and exercise influential role with Assets, Non-operated Joint Ventures, Functions, and Regional Leadership teams.
  • Build functional capabilities to develop and sustain function excellence in the development and delivery of Identification studies.
  • Implement continuous improvement and lessons learnt on a continuous basis
  • Active and effective participation in the development of inputs for different stages of the CAP process.
  • Promote active participation in asset technical committees and Owner’s meetings as required.
  • Facilitate Assets and Function engagement and buy-in to ensure timely and quality delivery of Identification studies.
  • Ensures alignment with the wider Global and Functional goals and strategies.
  • Provides advice and guidance to the Program Director Studies and Innovation and Vice President Planning & Technical, Asset Presidents and Minerals Americas Executive Team in all Identification Phase Studies topics.
  • P&T; focal point with the Project Centre of Excellence and project regional team.
  • About You

  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant Engineering discipline(s), Business, Economics or related discipline.
  • 10+ years of experience managing Studies and / or Projects in the mining sector.
  • Strong background in mining projects or in mining operations (must understand range of scope alternatives).
  • Ability to propose and evaluate different alternatives for different projects.
  • Strong business acumen and ability to prioritize and make value trade-offs.
  • Strong influencing skills to build stakeholder alignment, challenge stakeholder views.
  • Strong communication skills to support influencing, explain decision making processes, and selection of Preferred Investment Alternative.
