Your primary role as the Technical Director Dam Spillway Design will be to :
Provide technical and project management leadership to a specific major project and / or a number of smaller projects on dams and specifically spillway engineering projects.
Work alongside other technical staff to undertake project related technical work in relation to structural aspects of dam and hydropower engineering projects.
Lead part of a project team responsible for spillway design on a large project.
Lead the overall project team and undertake associated project management for smaller projects
Building GHD’s profile in dams and spillway design
Experience required :
Basic requirements would be a minimum of 20 years’ experience in large dam engineering with the majority of this time working as a consultant
Established industry profile through participation in professional associations
The technical experience and skills specific for this position include :
Demonstrated skills and understanding of spillway design for large dam and Technicalhydropower structures, with advanced understanding of computational fluid dynamics, physical modelling of large dam spillways and the associated structural design of spillways for major dams
Experience working in multi-disciplined teams, including hydro-mechanical, electro-mechanical, geologists, structural and hydraulic engineers
Additionally, the successful candidate will be able to demonstrate :
Established project and time management skills, including preparation of budgets, work programs, proposals, tenders, technical submissions and reports.
Established project team management skills in a multidisciplinary consulting environment
Develop and maintain strong client relationships
Ability to work on multiple projects concurrently, strong written and verbal communication skills in English along with an ability to work well with a variety of clients.
Mentoring of junior staff
A commitment to maintaining a healthy and safe workplace

Provision of authoritative technical leadership for design, documentation and reports relating to spillways for new dams, upgrading of existing dams and hydropower projects.
A willingness to travel both nationally and internationally as required for projects,
Well regarded specialist advice during client tendering and evaluation of tenders and where required design advice and quality control during construction
Completion of tasks for multiple projects within budget, to committed programs to support the timely completion of projects
Contribution to the preparation of successful proposals to clients
Ongoing compliance with GHD’s Quality, Environmental Management and Occupational Health Safety & Rehabilitation Systems
Clear, concise reports and presentations for clients
Strive for industry recognition as leader in the field of spillway design
Active development of GHD’s dams and hydropower business.
