About the role

BHP Technology (Technology) is a global function accountable for the development and delivery of company-wide technology systems and services to BHP businesses and functions.

For this opportunity as Specialist Project Management you will plan, direct, and coordinate activities to manage projects from initiation to full integration with businessas usual, including application of appropriate methodologies and governance.

Furthermore, the expectations of the Specialist Project Management role are to;Ensure projects are aligned to strategic vision of the Delivery teamDevelops and owns project schedules and project chartersIdentifies resource needs, develops resource plans with stakeholder(s), and on boards approved resources onto the project.

Lead on site execution, ensuring compliance with global BHP safety programs such as Field Leadership ProgramManage vendor relationship controlling performance and deliverablesLead the execution of BHP processes for project management ensuring a smooth transition to operationIdentifies and owns material risks and ensures adequate controls in place for each projectManage project budget, through forecasting, actual / accrual reporting, and by explaining variancesCommunicates Project performance to leadership on Delivery and business sponsor sidePoint of contact for major issues and escalations relating to project successful resolution, engaging all relevant stakeholders as appropriate.

Ensure all documentation is provided for ongoing communications both internally and externally (e.g. project plan, project charter, project schedule, project register etc.

Responsibilities will include but are not limited to : In this role, you will be accountable for ensure projects are aligned to strategic vision of the Production Systems team.

You drive a culture of taking personal accountability and ownership at all levels, while fostering a culture of execution excellence by taking personal interest in tracking execution and ensuring delivery of results meets business commitments and communicates these results accordingly.

Requests feedback on systems and processes for Continuous Improvement, point of contact for major issues and escalations relating to project successful resolution, engaging all relevant stakeholders as appropriate, well connected with externals partners and other functions, and work with Supply to coordinate any vendors related to projects.

Delivers project and change management support for Production Systems team projects, be accountable for project execution and governance through the end-

to-end tollgating process; ensure all documentation is provided for ongoing communications both internally and externally.

Maintains the business case throughout the project, networks internally and externally to staff project team.

  • Ensure projects are aligned to strategic vision of the Delivery team
  • Develops and owns project schedules and project charters
  • Identifies resource needs, develops resource plans with stakeholder(s), and on boards approved resources onto the project.
  • Lead on site execution, ensuring compliance with global BHP safety programs such as Field Leadership Program
  • Manage vendor relationship controlling performance and deliverables
  • Lead the execution of BHP processes for project management ensuring a smooth transition to operation
  • Identifies and owns material risks and ensures adequate controls in place for each project
  • Manage project budget, through forecasting, actual / accrual reporting, and by explaining variances
  • Communicates Project performance to leadership on Delivery and business sponsor side
  • Point of contact for major issues and escalations relating to project successful resolution, engaging all relevant stakeholders as appropriate.
  • Ensure all documentation is provided for ongoing communications both internally and externally (e.g. project plan, project charter, project schedule, project register etc.)
  • About You

    Degree qualified in an engineering, civil industrial or management discipline. PMP or equivalent CertifiedA minimum of 5 years relevant professional experience, with a minimum of 2 years experience in Minerals or Petroleum, working in a multinational organization.

  • Exceptional relationship management, consultancy and influencing skills, to drive Improvement without direct authority.Excellent oral and written communication skills;
  • ability to present and discuss technical information with the business users in business languageAbility to enforce structure and discipline but remain flexible to situational priorities and provide timely decision makingDeep expertise and a track record of success working in Planning & PMO functions for large business units (250+ people)Ability to lead and work effectively in a diverse and globally dispersed virtual team environment, guiding and supporting team membersEnglish and Spanish spoken and writtenWhat we offer youAt BHP Billiton, we will provide you an environment to : be autonomous and support (you) to use initiative;
