The Media SWE s are responsible for solving real-time audio / video issues in enterprises and consumers that use Microsoft Teams and Skype.
In collaboration with customer support, Media SWEs help to take care of incoming incidents and drive them all the way from triage to resolution.
In collaboration with media services and client-side engineering teams, Media SWEs build sophisticated monitoring and diagnostic tools, use rich service and client-side telemetry and data to detect and react to possible issues before customers notice them.
They are also responsible for guiding Microsoft partners in integrating 3rd party media service / software / device offering into Teams / Skype and defining / developing solutions that will ensure the quality and reliability of integrated E2E real-time media experiences.
Collaborating with customer support to establish efficient triaging process for media related issues, maintaining media wide troubleshooting guides
Working with customers, learning specifics of their network / device topologies and collecting information needed to solve their issues
Supporting documentation on customer best practices with network / device setup for media
Developing diagnostic tools to facilitate investigation and troubleshooting
Building intelligent monitoring tools to fast track problem detection and resolution
Getting insights from media services and client-side telemetry, logs and data
Collaborating with partner teams and helping them solve the integration issues
Developing test suites and certification solutions that can ensure the quality of integrated partner offerings
Participating in on-call rotation
Required Qualifications :
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Demonstrated ability to write, debug and fix code
Experience with engineering systems : git, CI and monitoring systems
Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills across network, devices, application, and distributed services
Experience with data analysis, writing queries and scripts to process and visualize data
Fast learner, out of the box, quick and agile thinking to adapt to fast pace and changing environment
BA / BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related technical discipline, or in place of 4-year degree, an equivalent industry internship or industry software engineering experience
Preferred, not required :
2+ years of scripting and programming experience (preferably .NET, PowerShell, Python, C#)
Networking knowledge : basic protocols TCP / UDP / DNS, debugging tools
Multimedia domain knowledge : RTP / SDP protocols, audio / video devices, audio / video codecs
Demonstrated technical experience with site reliability engineering or software development and operations
Experience building or operating distributed cloud-based software serv
