Head of Service Execution & Projects

The Field Service Engineer reports to the Head of Service Execution & Projects. He is in charge of executing planned and unplanned maintenance and overhauls, support Service Sales Engineers with specific technical questions related to GEA equipment, supervising and / or executing installation and commissioning, dictating customer trainings, identifying and communicating customer needs and executing plant optimization, modernization, and retrofits.

His / her role is performed both in the field and in the in-house workshop.

The key management priorities for the role :

  • Manage external contractors.
  • Supervise development and performance of Junior Field Service Engineers
  • The tasks and responsibilities for the role include :

  • Bundled field service : Planned and unplanned maintenance and overhauls and product support (equipment- and solution-related)
  • Installation supervision, commissioning, and customer training
  • Identify customer needs and report them to the Service Sales Engineer
  • Execution of plant optimization, modernization, and retrofits
  • Perform in-house service jobs
  • Advise our clients in a proactive way identifying possible technological solutions
  • Advise commercial teams in certain technical areas
  • Communication requirements for the role :

  • Internal customers : Employees, Sales Engineers, Service Sales Engineers, Project Engineers, Service Support Engineers.
  • External customers : Customers, Consultants, Site execution Contractors, Distributor / Agent / dealer networks, Customer’s project manager, site manager.
  • Type of communication : Direct within the organization, with customers and external contractors focused on achieving agreements.
  • Overview

    Strong technical knowledge and manual skills, technical engineered degree in mechanical, electrical or mechatronics. Must have good soft skills for direct customer contact and the capacity to supervise external contractors.

    Must have a strong knowledge of maintenance theory.

    Strong capacities to solve complex technical scenarios. The candidate must have a good understanding of our technologies and markets.

    He must be open to change and frequent domestic and international assignments.

    Experience & Competencies

    Based on the above-mentioned requirements, candidates for the position indicated should have demonstrated abilities in the following areas :

    Strong technical knowledge and manual skills, as proven by :

  • Proven (minimum 4 yr) field service execution experience
  • Familiarity with the setup of GEA and the local market requirements of various customer groups.
  • Being a good communicator written and verbal able to work with individuals across levels, functions, products, countries and cultures.
  • Good capacity to write technical reports and maintenance records.
  • Previous work experience in industrial companies
  • Interpersonal skills :

  • Has a good resistance for frustration when dealing when complex technical issues.

  • Education / Work experience :

    Required education (e.g. university degree, apprenticeship)

    Technical engineered degree in mechanical / industrial / process engg / Food technology.

    Required languages

    English (Good professional proficiency)

    Spanish (full professional proficiency)

    Other qualification / further education

    In-house Training in Service Execution and Maintenance

    Relevant work experience

    4 to 10 years of experience on GEA’s / comparable range of products and service.

    Experienced in communication with clients

    Teamwork, Proactive, organize and with discipline

    Willing to travel.
